Manitoba Crafts Museum and Library Collections

The MCML museum collection reflects the nature of craft in Manitoba, particularly up to 1950.  It consists of a wide variety of textile crafts, including quilting, weaving, embroidery, lace, knitting, crochet, and batik. Other media represented include paper, wood, metal, glass, and ceramics.   The collection includes pieces from both men and women and from cultures around the world.

The MCML library collection was initially developed to provide resource material for courses and workshops at the Guild, and has grown to include historical texts, “how-to” manuals, patterns, contemporary books, and general theory books on design and colour.

Aspects of the collections are featured in MCML’s exhibit, “Hands On” in the Virtual Museum of Canada.
